Words Against The End Of The World
This book, Words Against the End of the World, emerges from a moment of urgency and possibility. Across Latin America, extractive operations and urban sprawl are generating a socio/environmental crisis, which is deepening and transforming the lives of so many people and existences. Within this context, Words Against brings together three short reflections from Latin America’s most incisive critical voices—Silvia Rivera Cusicanqui, Márgara Millán, and Raquel Gutiérrez Aguilar—concerning the entangled crises of our time. Their words, rooted in decades of struggle, lived experiences and deep communal ties, confront the political bankruptcy of the State; the perverse resilience of colonial and patriarchal structures; the welcomed erosion of leftist politics, and its collapse towards an ever-expanding form of extractive progress and development. These impositions and becomings coincide with the urgent need to cultivate autonomous and life-affirming practices in the ruins of capitalist modernity.
